Football

Liverpool managed to see off Blackburn on Wednesday and set up an FA cup semi-final against Aston Villa, and the possibility of Steven Gerrard playing in the final on his birthday.

Tottenham 0 – 1 Aston Villa

West Brom 2 – 3 Leicester

West Ham 1 – 1 Stoke

Sundays Premier League results

Manchester United 4 – 2 Manchester City

QPR 0 – 1 Chelsea

Villa and Leicester boosted their hopes of Premier League survival with good away wins whilst Hull, Burnley, QPR and Sunderland all lost leaving themselves in a precarious position. Leicester’s win still sees them bottom but now only 3 points from safety. Burnley sit 2nd from bottom and 2 points from safety as do QPR. With Hull just outside the bottom 3.

At the top Chelsea still have a 7 point gap at the top and a game in hand over Arsenal.

Manchester United has moved clear of rivals Manchester City after thumping them today. City’s chances of retaining their title seem slim as they are 12 points adrift of Chelsea. The summer may also bring a change in the manager’s position as Pellegrini will have no trophy to show for this season.

Monday night action will see Liverpool host Newcastle
