Barcelona defeated Athletic Bilbao 3-1 yesterday in the finals of Copa del Rey yesterday to add to their strong season. Barca came in first in the standings in La Liga by a two-point margin over rival Real Madrid. They can add to the accomplishments with a victory in the UEFA Champions League final over Italian power Juventus on June 6.lionel messi

Anyone who follows soccer regularly knows that Barcelona is loaded and has arguably the greatest trio of strikers up top with Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Luis Suarez. Yet, Messi continues to amaze fans, teammates, opponents, and his coaching staff with plays he is able to pull off. One such example is the goal he scored to open the scoring in the Copa del Rey final. Messi, received the ball just inside the Athletic half by the right touchline and dribbled his way through four defenders before cracking a left-footed near post shot that beat Athletic Bilbao keeper Iago Herrerin.

Watch the video below as Messi weaves through his opponents with ease.

This goal was vintage Messi and shows how he can effortlessly make world-class defenders look like fools. He added a second goal to close out the scoring.

Despite topping Messi in La Liga goals during the 2014-2015 campaign 48 to 43, Real Madrid’s Christiano Ronaldo is not on the same level as Messi in regards to doing amazing things on the pitch. Messi and Ronaldo are in a class by themselves and constantly push one another to excel. Yet, despite scoring some amazing goals himself on the pitch, in my opinion, Ronaldo rarely pulls off plays like Messi’s goal above. Messi’s exploits are getting to the point where many fans simply expect these kind of exceptional plays from Messi.

Since Barca is already playing in the UEFA Champion’s League Final, Athletic Bilbao with represent the Spanish league in the UEFA Europa League. Defenders in the UEFA Europa League should consider this a gift.

Be sure to tune in to the UEFA Champion’s Final to see what Messi will do next.

And that’s as I see it!
