As we collectively exhale in relief after days, weeks, months, years of hoping, praying for the return of LeBron, I would like us to reflect on why this is the best scenario our city could ever have had with LeBron. Four years ago when he left us, we cried, we screamed, and we hated. It was all fair. LeBron was a kid, he saw bright lights, he saw superstars, and he saw championships. Its funny how I recall reacting to this betrayal at a ripe old age of 24 and now, 4 years later, and many life experiences later I appreciate what it means to leave Ohio, and also the desire and need to come back. Why? Because home is home.
While he was gone, the Basketball GODS decided that Cleveland was still worthy, the FANS were still worthy. How? Three number 1 picks in four years, two solid picks in Waiters and TT. and a winning leader in the best European Coach potentially in history. The Cavs may not have won a lot in the time that he was gone, but the losing gave us such great young talents. The only missing piece was a mentor, and guy that could show them the winning way. LeBron couldnt do that at 24, but at 29 and 2 championships later, he is the perfect man for the job.
Looking forward, all you can have is hope for this team. Hope that LeBron is going to not only win a Championship for this starved city, but also to do it in a way that is the Cleveland way. Young players, no proven winners, just hungry talent and hungry fans.
Cleveland is the best sports town in the country.
