On Saturday night, my social media was lighting up with comments on Ronda Rousey, the first and current UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion. That fight marked her fifth UFC title defense, four of which have ended in the first round. This was no ordinary fight though.

Back up: who is Ronda Rousey?

Ronda RouseyRonday Rousey is an American mixed martial artist and judoka. Along with being the first and current UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion, she is the former Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Champion. She has finished all of her opponents by armbar in the first round and became the first American woman to earn an Olympic medal in Judo at the Summer Olympics in Beijing in 2008.

Rousey, 28 years-old, started fighting with her mother at the age of 11. At 17, Rousey qualified for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, becoming the youngest judoka in the entire Games. Rousey also won a gold medal at the 2004 World Junior Judo Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

According to Rousey’s website, she is the #1 pound-for-pound female MMA fighter in the world as well as being ranked #1 at 135 pounds according to the Unified Women’s MMA Rankings.

Along with being a noted MMA fighter, Rousey has also dabbled in acting andmodeling.

What happened Saturday night?

Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015 was UFC 184 at the Staples Center where Rousey won to retain her women’s bantamweight title.

Rousey didn’t just win the fight, she dominated Cat Zingano in 14 seconds, her quickest fight to-date and THE quickest fight to date. Rousey beat Andrei Arlovski’s 15-second win at UFC 55. Rousey is known for her quick fights, adding her third extremely quick fight to her list.

Zingano began the fight by running out of her corner and throwing a knee at Rousey. Zingano threw Rousey down, but Rousey quickly secured her position on top. Rousey then placed an extreme pressure on her joint by pulling Zingano’s arm towards her and rotating her hips.

Rousey was just as shocked as the rest of the world, but noted that it had been a move she had been practicing.

“We were actually suspecting she might do something flying at me right away,”Rousey said. “I’ve actually been working on that behind arm armbar. Not from that angle, but hey, it works.”

I missed the fight! Where can I see Ronda Rousey next?

You can catch Rousey in theaters sometime in the future, but for now, the forecast is vague. Rousey is taking a break from UFC shoot a new Hollywood film. She is not a stranger to the theater, playing notable roles in The Expendables 3, Fast and Furious 7 and Entourage.

If you can’t wait that long to see Rousey, why not visit your local RedBox or Family Video and pick up one of her past movies, or get an MMA subscription and watch her past fights.

(Pro Tip: Instead of spending money on her past fights, check them out on Youtube.)

Where are you guys more interested to see Rousey next: in the Octagon or on the Big Screen?
