CANTON,Ohio- I have a daily routine each day especially Monday thru Friday and that is wake up at 5 for work and I’m set free around 3:30 or 4:30. throughout the day I either take a few minutes during my breaks to shoot some hoops inside or listen to sports talk on my radio.

Then once I get home I’m greeted by my loving 4 legged daughter who I named Buckeye because shes all black with a little bit of White and you wrap a Red color around her and there you go. It’s one of the best feelings in the world to be welcomed home like that.

Then I exercise a little and dive right into my sports.

You watch games whether it be by yourself or with family and it takes you away from your everyday life problems…..most of the time. Sometimes you even get into shouting matching with people your watching the event with over a bad call or stupid play or whatever.

I think though that sometimes we as people, myself included, get so sucked into our passion of sports that we forget that it’s strictly entertainment and that it’s all to get us away from life’s everyday hurtles.

I have noticed that too many people these days take sports way over the edge. Arguments, actual fights and even a relationship or 2 can be ruined when things get out of hand.

I don’t think but I know it’s important for all of us to remember that life is so much more than sports and that God and family is what is most important.

How many of us are so think headed that in an argument MUST get the last word in when really it takes a bigger person to just let things go and think to themselves is this really worth it? sadly you will look back 9 times out of 10 and say wow that was really dumb.

Those of you that read my articles a lot know that I’m a Cleveland/Ohio state guy and I can’t stand Pittsburgh, Michigan and so on but I don’t wish death or ill will upon them and even though I choose not to associate myself with some of them people they are too arrogant at least I made the attempt to try.

Most of the time I prefer not to watch sports events with my dad because he takes it too personally. He’s a sore loser and if the teams make 1 mistake he acts like a raging alcoholic who hasn’t had his beer lately. I can’t watch anything and enjoy it when he watches it. I love him regardless but when it comes to sports I can’t.

Are you or do you know someone or multiple people like that? Isn’t it time people realize that sports isn’t only mean’t for teams to compete but it’s what goes on during a game that is important. Maybe you can watch it with someone and it is the start of a friendship. Maybe it’s a way to spend quality time with people.

Respect each other during a game and respect a difference of opinions even if you know your right because the good Lord knows I’ve had to do that but enjoy the time you get to spend with those you watch sports with and realize that at the end of the day sports is your getaway and not the determining factor of life in general.
