CANTON,Ohio- So do you call it a choke job on Golden States part? Did they fold under pressure? Or is Draymond Green that important to the Warriors?
Whatever the case, the Cleveland Cavaliers went into game 5 of the NBA Finals facing elimination and won at Oracle Arena. A place where Golden State is almost a lock to win.
LeBron James and Kyrie Irving had the games of their lives. Both had 41 points a piece and both took it upon themselves to carry the team to a 112-97 win to force a game 6 back in Cleveland.
The game itself started out a little rocky for the Cavs. Klay Thompson had himself a game going 6-11 from 3 point range. I looked at some family I was watching the game with and said Klay is dropping three’s everywhere yet we’re still close.
When James was hitting his jump shot, I knew Cleveland had a chance because when LeBron is making jumpers, he’s extremely difficult to defend. Even more so than usual.
Truth be told. When LeBron drove to the rim and threw the hammer down on Mo Speights, that’s when I knew Cleveland had a great shot to win the game.
So now Cleveland is once again facing elimination and they better be prepared because Golden State will be coming hard and look to celebrate on the Quicken Loans floor just like they did last year.
By the way I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed hearing a silent Oracle Arena from the 5:00 mark on. Even better, they started leaving.
