Broulis Beat Report: The one and only mock draft By Nick Broulis

CANTON, Ohio- The 2017 NFL draft is finally all but here. I happen to go to a site that allows you to play the general manager of every team, but just their first-round pick. No way would I do all seven rounds for every team. So here is my one and only mock draft.

  1. Cleveland Browns- Myles Garrett (DE-Texas A&M): While Cleveland is in need of just about every position, Garrett is the best overall player in the draft and the Browns have never had an edge rusher that Myles Garrett could potentially be. And regardless of the division, having a great pass rusher is almost as important as a great quarterback. Having Garrett on one side of the line and Ogbah opposite Garrett, Cleveland might finally be onto something special when it comes to a pass rush.
  2. San Francisco 49ers- Jamal Adams (Safety- LSU): Another team that needs just about everything. But, think about who the GM of the 49ers is, John Lynch. Former safety. Tough guy. Sounds like another safety in this draft.
  3. Chicago Bears- Jonathan Allen (DE- Alabama): The Bears could use just as much help as both teams ahead of them. Jonathan Allen will provide good pressure up the middle of the defensive line. I, for the record, actually wanted Cleveland to take Allen over Garrett, but it’s tough to pass on a player like Garrett. This will be a good building block for the Bears defense on the line.
  4. Jacksonville Jaguars- Leonard Fournette (RB- LSU): I’ve heard quite a few people that think Jacksonville is done with Blake Bortles. I’m not. As a matter of fact, I think they’re going to give Bortles another weapon offensively. To me, the front office of Jacksonville is looking at Fournette as a player that can take the pressure off Bortles.
  5. Tennessee Titans- Marshon Lattimore (CB- Ohio State): The titans are pretty set on the offensive side of the ball. I think they’ll target Lattimore, who should help out their secondary.
  6. New York Jets- Mitch Trubisky (QB- North Carolina): The Jets, like Cleveland, San Francisco and Chicago, could go in a number of directions. I just have a feeling it’ll be a QB and Trubisky will be their pick at six.
  7. Los Angeles Chargers- Malik Hooker (Safety- Ohio State): If Rivers was two years older, I’d have them selecting a QB. But, I think the Chargers are trying everything they can to give Rivers and company one last chance to make a legit run at a championship. Adding Hooker to the secondary should definitely help.
  8. Carolina Panthers- Dalvin Cook (RB- FSU): To me, that’s a dangerous offense with Newton at QB and Cook hanging out in the back field. Two words for you with cook………SPEED KILLS.
  9. Cincinnati Bengals- Solomon Thomas (DL- Stanford): At first I had Reuben Foster heading to the jungle. But, his stock has dropped quite a bit ever since Foster was sent home from the combine after an accident with a hospital worker and a diluted sample. Now, it makes sense for the Bengals to add a quality defensive linemen to their roster instead.
  10. Buffalo Bills- Mike Williams (WR- Clemson): It appears that the Bills are giving Tyrod Taylor another weapon on offense. They already have the speedy Sammy Watkins. Now, they’re going to add a big target in Mike Williams.
  11. New Orleans Saints- Jabrill Peppers (LB- Michigan): It’s not completely clear what Peppers really is, but I think the Saints stun most of the experts with this pick. New Orleans needs help on defense and Peppers could play multiple positions.
  12. Cleveland Browns- Teez Tabor (CB- Florida): I see a lot of other mock drafts have Cleveland taking an offensive player. While I’m not opposed to that, unless it’s a QB, the Browns need more help on defense than they do offense.
  13. Arizona Cardinals- Deshone Kizer (QB- Notre Dame): The Carson Palmer era is almost over. They need to find someone to replace him fast. So, drafting Kizer makes a lot of sense. Let him learn from Palmer and maybe next year Deshone Kizer will be the new starting QB for Arizona.
  14. Philadelphia Eagles- Marlon Humphrey (CB- Alabama): I think Philly will add to their secondary.
  15. Indianapolis Colts- Ryan Ramczyk (OL- Wisconsin): The Colts will try and protect Andrew Luck better this year.
  16. Baltimore Ravens- Corey Davis (WR- Western Michigan): Out is Steve Smith. Now, insert WR Corey Davis to take his place. The Ravens give Flacco another weapon on offense.
  17. Washington Redskins- Zach Cunningham (LB- Vanderbilt): Washington needs help defensively.
  18. Tennessee Titans- John Ross (WR-Washington): The Titans already have a good run game. Now give Mariota a receiver who can stretch the defense with his blazing speed.
  19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Budda Baker (Safety- Washington): Tampa Bay needs a little help on defense. Baker should help out the secondary.
  20. Denver Broncos- Cam Robinson (OT- Alabama): Denver will try to better protect whoever will be playing QB.
  21. Detroit Lions- Derek Barnett (DL- Tennessee): The Lions need more help on defense then offense. Plus, getting pressure on Rodgers and Bridgewater, when he eventually comes back, will be a huge priority.
  22. Miami Dolphins- Sidney Jones (Safety- Washington): If Miami wants to even think about closing the gap between them and the Patriots, they’ll need to be good in the secondary.
  23. New York Giants- Garett Bolles (OT- Utah): Nothing wrong with trying to protect Eli Manning.
  24. Oakland Raiders- Jarrad Davis (LB- Florida): Oakland could use some help at linebacker.
  25. Houston Texans- Deshaun Watson (QB- Clemson): Houston could possible make a deep run in the playoffs if they have a QB who can make big plays. The Texans have a good defense, now they have hopes that Watson can become the player some experts think he can be.
  26. Seattle Seahawks- Adoree Jackson (CB- USC): It’s no secret that Seattle is looking to trade Richard Sherman. Even if he’s still a Seahawk come the 2017 season, nothing wrong with finding his replacement in this draft.
  27. Kansas City Chiefs- Tre’ Davious White (CB- LSU): Any team but the Broncos could always use help in the secondary when it comes to the AFC West.
  28. Dallas Cowboys- Haason Reddick (LB- Temple): Dallas needs some help defensively. Not so much on the offensive side of the ball.
  29. Green Bay Packers- Joe Mixon (RB- Oklahoma): Yes, Mixon has had some issues off the field, but Green Bay needs to give Rodgers help in the back field. This pick will probably shock the world if it really happens.
  30. Pittsburgh Steelers- Ryan Anderson (LB- Alabama): I’ve seen a lot of mock drafts predicting the Steelers take an offensive player. Not here. Pittsburgh needs to add to their defense.
  31. Atlanta Falcons- Taco Charlton (DE- Michigan): Adding a really good defensive player this late in the draft might just be what Atlanta needs.
  32. New Orleans Saints- T.J. Watt (LB- Wisconsin): The Saints need to add as much quality to their defense as possible. Watt should help.

So, there you have it. I’m very curious how well I do. Last year, my predictions went wrong after the third pick. Let’s hope I do better this year.
