CANTON,Ohio- The final week of the NFL’s regular season is here. All of the playoff seeds all are but set. Let’s begin.
SUNDAY, JANUARY 1ST, 2017-
Ravens vs Bengals- I’ll take the Ravens. This is likely Steve Smith’s final game.
Texans vs Titans- Texans get a road win.
Panthers vs Buccaneers- Tampa Bay wins, but, they’ll need too much help to get a playoff spot.
Cowboys vs Eagles- I’ll take the Eagles. Dallas will rest too many key players.
Bills vs Jets- Buffalo wins, ending a miserable year for the Jets.
Bears vs Vikings- Minnesota wins. They’ve been looking forward to 2017 since Bridgewater went down.
Jaguars vs Colts- Indianapolis gets a home win.
Patriots vs Dolphins- New England still needs a win to secure the #1 seed in the AFC. If the Patriots lose and Oakland wins, the Raiders take over the #1 overall seed. Patriots win.
Chiefs vs Chargers- Kansas City is still playing for the AFC West. A win at San Diego, along with a loss from Oakland, means the Chiefs win the West and the #2 seed. K.C. wins.
Cardinals vs Rams- Arizona wins in Los Angeles.
Raiders vs Broncos- A win and the Raiders are AFC West champions. Oakland is also hoping for a Patriots loss. Raiders get a big win.
Giants vs Redskins- Washington wins at home. They’ll be hoping that Green Bay and Detroit doesn’t end in a tie.
Seahawks vs 49ers- Seattle will win, and in blowout fashion. Seahawks are still playing for a first-round bye.
Saints vs Falcons- Atlanta wins. This will give the Falcons a first-round bye.
Packers vs Lions- Last year, it came down to Minnesota winning over the Packers to win the NFC North. This year, the battle for the NFC North takes place at Ford Field in Detroit. Green Bay has won 5 in a row. Detroit has lost 2 in a row. Can the Lions upset Green Bay? I say………Yes. The Detroit Lions will win and take the NFC North crown.
Browns vs Steelers- Neither team is playing for anything. If Cleveland wins and San Francisco loses, the 49ers will take over the #1 overall pick position in the 2017 draft. If the Browns lose, they keep the top overall pick. Pittsburgh is locked into the #3 seed and will be resting their kay players. Regardless, I’m still taking Pittsburgh at home. Mike Tomlin always has a way of getting his players ready to play. This may very well be Robert Griffin III’s final chance at coming back to Cleveland next year, or even in the NFL period. If the Browns don’t bring him back, I think a team in desperate need of a QB will sign him. But that won’t be Cleveland.
Next week will be my wild card weekend picks. I’m really looking forward to the challenge of getting every matchup right.
This is my final football article for 2016. I wanted to take this time to thank all of my readers. I really appreciate you taking the time to read my predictions. If you’ve read most, if not all of my articles, you’ve seen weeks where I look really smart. Other weeks……not so much. But thank you all for gluing your eyes to the screen of your phone or computer and checking out my predictions. Have a great start to 2017!
