Broulis Beat Report: 2017 NFC East prediction By Nick Broulis

CANTON, Ohio- Up next in my 2017 NFL divisional predictions is the NFC East. Will Dallas stay atop the East or will Philadelphia, Washington or New York take the East.

Washington Redskins- (Home Stadium- FedEx Field)- (2016 record: 8-7)- (My 2017 Prediction: 5-11)

OFFENSE: QB Kirk Cousins should have an even better year. Why? They added Terrelle Pryor to the receiving core with Josh Doctson, Jamison Crowder, Brian Quick and Jordan Reed.

DEFENSE: I like Jonathan Allen upfront. Ryan Kerrigan is still a good linebacker. DJ Swearinger and Josh Norman look to stabilize the secondary.

WASHINGTON REDSKINS FINAL THOUGHTS- The talent is there offensively for Washington, but defensively, I think they’ll suffer, especially in the NFC East.

Dallas Cowboys- (Home Stadium- AT&T Stadium)- (2016 record: 13-3)- (My 2017 Prediction: 6-10)

OFFENSE: The big question is will Elliott play? If he does, I’d slide their win total up to 8-8 and maybe second place. If he doesn’t, well, just read above. Plus, NFL defenses adjust quickly from year to year. Prescott should have another good year with or without Elliott. Dez Bryant, Terrance Williams, Noah Brown, Cole Beasley and Jason Witten are threats outside. Alfred Morris and Darren McFadden are in the backfield.

DEFENSE: I’m actually worried about the Dallas defense. Sean Lee is a good linebacker. Byron Jones and Orlando Scandrick are good in the secondary.

DALLAS COWBOYS FINAL THOUGHTS- The 2017 season could go either way for Dallas but I’m not too sure, even if Elliott plays, that the Cowboys can compete in a tough NFC East. That defense makes me wonder.

Philadelphia Eagles- (Home Stadium- Lincoln Financial Field)- (2016 record: 7-9)- (My 2017 Prediction: 9-7)

OFFENSE: Is Carson Wentz the real deal at QB? All of us will find out even more this year as he enters year two of his career. Wentz has weapons on the outside in Alshon Jeffery, Torrey Smith, Nelson Agholor and Zach Ertz. LeGarrette Blount and Darren Sproles are a nice combo at RB.

DEFENSE: Vinny Curry, Fletcher Cox and Derek Barnett are good on the D-line. In the secondary are Malcolm Jenkins and Ronald Darby.

PHILADLEPHIA EAGLES FINAL THOUGHTS- If Wentz can have a whole season like he did the first half of last season, the Eagles should be in a good position. The defense should be able to hold up their end of the deal.

New York Giants- (Home Stadium- MetLife Stadium)- (2016 record: 11-5)- (My 2017 Prediction: 11-5)

OFFENSE: Eli Manning should have plenty of help at both the receiver and running back positions. The receivers are Odell Beckham, Brandon Marshall and Sterling Shepard. Paul Perkins and Shane Vereen are the RB’s.

DEFENSE: From Jason Pierre-Paul, Damon Harrison and Olivier Vernon, to Eli Apple, Landon Collins, Janoris Jenkins and Dominique Roders-Cromartie in the secondary. I do think the Giants have the best defense in the East.

NEW YORK GIANTS FINAL THOUGHTS- If the Giants play their “A” game most of the season, they should end up winning the East.

NFC EAST REVIEW- Washington will be able to score, but I’m not big on their defense. Who really knows which way Dallas will go. They could end up in last, first or where I have them. The Eagles look to make a push for the playoffs and the New York Giants have players on both sides of the ball. They just have to execute now.
