Who’s going to be the star of the team this year? How good do you think they will be?

Trying not to be too biased, I think they have the talent to win it all. Its funny because we lost the #1 & #3 pick in the last NBA draft, but I believe we will be better this year. We relied a lot on freshman last year, and now a bunch of those freshman have a full year under their belt and a full offseason. Kansas freshman usually take a really big jump after their freshman year so I’m hoping they all make that jump. And it doesn’t hurt when you get new freshman to replace Wiggins and Embiid. They got the #2 ranked player (Cliff Alexander, PF) and #4 ranked player (Kelly Oubre, SF) so it makes the transition a little easier.

If I had to guess on who the star will be this year, I have 3 players that come to mind. There is a PF, Perry Ellis who is a junior and was a 15 pt scorer last year but struggles over length down low. Cliff Alexander is another player who will really be important in terms of how far the team goes. He is about 6’9″ but has a 7’3″ wingspan so his presence down low will be very key. The last person is the one who I think will be the star of the team and that is Sophomore Wayne Selden. He played through an injury all of last season and was still a 10 pt scorer but really took a back seat to Wiggins. He had surgery on his knee in the offseason and now he looks crazy explosive and seems to really be shooting the ball well.

I could talk all day about this, but in the end, I think Kansas won’t have 1 player who is going to be scoring over 16 ppg but rather about 5 that score over 10 ppg. It’ll be a fun year to watch!
